‘U.S. Can’t Decide Alone’: Macron 'BEGS' Trump For Seat With Putin At Ukraine Talks In Budapest.

At Budapest the chart for the October 21 New Moon is very significantly placed. It is the apex of a T-square with Jupiter-Pluto-New Moon that aligns with the horizon.

Today's dominant story is the brewing Trump-Putin summit in Budapest, framed as a high-stakes diplomatic push to end the Ukraine war—but laced with intense debates over who gets a seat at the table (Libra New Moon :equity in decision-making) and who holds the power (Pluto)  (U.S.-Russia bilateralism vs. European/Ukrainian inclusion).

Reports detail Trump's heated exchanges with Zelenskyy (e.g., "shouting and throwing maps" on Air Force One over Donbass concessions), underscoring Pollux-like rivalry. (Jupiter is conjunct Pollux). Jupiter opposite Pluto reminds us of failures that follow big projects undertaken without enough thought or backup.

Pluto’s (subterranean) transformative power surges into visibility—Pluto's intensity in Budapest, symbolizing hidden power dynamics (e.g., U.S.-Russia backchannels) erupting into public view.

Using Uranian astrology midpoints:

 New Moon = Saturn/Uranus = Jupiter/Pluto

Ebertin

Saturn/Uranus: “Tension between old and new; sudden changes in established systems; breaking free from tradition, often with stress or rebellion.”

Jupiter/Pluto: “The pursuit of fanatical aims, the misfortune to lose everything”

To confirm our analysis, here  we have the upcoming solar return chart of the European Union. The significant thing to note is the Pluto-Vulcanus opposition aligned with the meridian.

Martha Wescott interprets the PLUTO-VULCANUS combination as below:

The period is gonna' be an absolute study in "power and pressure." I mean, you have seats--practically IN the orchestra--for some real drama where: people are under extreme pressure because of finances ... people are "feeling the heat" because others are manipulative or domineering (and haven't left them many options.) There can be pressures that arise from stuff you and others can't do much about--and, as you can imagine, that'll be especially grating! Expect that some of these pressures will occur when there is barely enough time to do all that seems to be required!

I think there'll be some situations where you see pressures that FEEL like ultimatums--as well as times when people rise up like crazed tigers BECAUSE others are trying to force their hand. It'll also be true that people can feel driven by unacknowledged emotional problems--or just because it drives them nutz that someone else is tryin' to call the shot--and there's nothing they can do about that.

Watch for times when people try to influence or coerce another...just to see their reaction... just to find out how far they can push them... just because they're in a position to exert power over them... just because they need to feel like the "top dog"... or as a way of trying to force a showdown.

This appears to describe how the European leaders are behaving. They continue to deny the obvious realities of the dire situation in Ukraine, which will only worsen over time. Yet we see no evidence of any willingness to change course, despite the obvious political hazard they face and the increasingly grim forecast for Europe and for Ukraine should they continue to push an unwinnable war.

With Jupiter also opposing Pluto on the meridian, the best quote I can think of is from Steven Forrest.

Under Pluto and Jupiter, faith is embattled. Perhaps someone has gone down a road for the wrong reasons…Comforting but phony elements of your life must be released and new possibilities seized under less than auspicious circumstances.

The war in Ukraine is now entirely dependent on the ability of European states to pay for it at a cost of at least $50bn per year, on the basis of Ukraine’s latest budget estimate for the 2026 fiscal year.. The most likely scenario, in the terrible eventuality that war in Ukraine did continue for another three years is that the Russian armed forces would almost certainly swallow up the whole of the Donbass region – comprising Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts.
