Young Men Flee Ukraine Following Loosened Restrictions

Media reports in Europe, including in The Telegraph and Politico, are this week documenting a new massive surge in young men fleeing Ukraine in order to not be conscripted, in which case they could be sent to front lines and face certain death.

"Almost 100,000 fighting-age Ukrainian men have left the country in the past two months after Volodymyr Zelensky eased departure rules, new figures show," The Telegraph reports. Oct 31

A chart drawn for the Sun’s ingress into Scorpio can help explain the news. The Sun on the Ascendant is the apex of a T-square with Jupiter opposite Pluto aligned with the meridian. Jupiter on the MC is conjunct the stars Pollux and Procyon.  ( It is also the apex of a YOD discussed below)

Both Procyon (α Canis Minoris) and Pollux (β Geminorum) have been astrologically associated with migration, travel, and relocation, especially in traditional, medieval, and mundane astrology. These are fixed stars with rich historical interpretations tied to journeys, exile, and cultural displacement. Their meanings stem from ancient sources (Ptolemy, Al-Biruni, Agrippa) and persist in modern practice, particularly in horary, electional, and relocation astrology.

Procyon (α Canis Minoris): Core Migration Themes

Sudden or Forced Departure

Short but Fateful Journeys

Escape from Danger or Oppression

Al-Biruni (11th c.)

Linked to emigrants who flee violence; "those who cross seas to save their lives."

Reinhold Ebertin (Fixed Stars, 1971)

"Rapid rise in foreign lands; migration for ambition or survival."

Jupiter's Role: As the greater benefic, Jupiter on the MC promises policy benevolence, and opportunities for growth. In Cancer (its sign of exaltation), it emphasizes protective, familial/nurturing expansions—ideal for safeguarding "the young" (youth as societal "children"). Here, it could symbolize government decisions (MC = rulers/authority) that "bless" emigration as a humane strategy amid mobilization fears, preventing broader unrest.

Astrologers like Paul Saunders describe it as "brief opportunities and fleeting success"—grab-and-go energy, fitting a rapid exodus (100K in 2 months).

The effective date of the Ukraine allowing Ukrainian men aged 18–22 to travel abroad (until they turn 23), amid the ongoing martial law restrictions. was August 28, 2025. This is when the new rules officially came into force, following approval by Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers.

In Ukraine’s [1] solar return chart [23 Aug 2025; 21:50 EET; Kiev], the Sun in the 5th house (young people) is the apex of YOD with Saturn/Neptune sextile Pluto forming the base. Uranus [1ge] on the Ascendant makes harmonious aspects to Saturn-Neptune-Pluto. Just a couple of days back, transit Mercury (youth) entered Sagg (long journeys) opposite Uranus and square apex Sun [0vi] triggering the fated “fork in the road”YOD so that we have the flurry of news.

The government (Saturn) must dissolve old martial law rigidity (Neptune in Pisces) to allow structural rebirth (Pluto in Aquarius) in foreign movement (9th)—for the sake of the young (5th).

The Yod said: “A fated decision about youth and foreign travel is unavoidable.”

Uranus rising said: “It will be sudden and liberating.”
