Russia Just Took a Step No One Expected — U.S. Caught Off Guard | Mearsheimer World

It appears there was a NATO attack deep into Russia in the last few days days which has heightened tension, with Putin warning of serious consequences. US intelligence is picking up signs of major changes in Russian deployment.

Russia’s solar arc progressed Ascendant [25vi] - Pluto [27sag] is in hard aspect to NATO’s natal Uranus [27ge] (see biwheel)

In astrological synastry, the opposition between Russia’s solar arc progressed Pluto at 27° Sagittarius and NATO’s natal Uranus at 27° Gemini highlights an evolving dynamic of tension between deep pressure for transformation (Pluto) and sudden rebellion (Uranus). Progressed Pluto represents Russia’s internalized shifts in power, control, or psychological depth over time, now directly challenging NATO’s core need for freedom to expand. This aspect often manifests as a push-pull in the relationship: Common themes include ideological clashes, where differing worldviews create friction but also potential for mutual enlightenment if navigated consciously. It can spark profound shifts, like breaking free from outdated patterns, but risks volatility, such as power struggles or unexpected separations if the energy turns destructive.

The current trigger—transit Mars at approximately 26° Sagittarius squaring Saturn at 25° Pisces, exact around December 8, 2025—amplifies this setup.

Mars in Sagittarius adds fiery, expansive action and assertiveness, conjuncting Russia’s progressed Pluto (intensifying determination and drive for change) while opposing NATO’s natal Uranus (fueling sudden urges for rebellion).

The square to Saturn in Pisces introduces frustration, delays, and a sense of restriction, where impulsive actions (Mars) clash with boundaries, responsibilities, or karmic lessons (Saturn). This forms a tense T-square pattern, potentially manifesting as blocked energy, arguments over freedom vs. commitment, or external obstacles that test the relationship's resilience.

What can be expected in the short term (early December 2025 and surrounding weeks):Intense Confrontations or Breakthroughs: The Mars-Pluto conjunction on Russia’s side could drive Russia toward bold, transformative actions, but the opposition to NATO’s Uranus might provoke it into erratic responses. Expect sudden events, like heated debates, revelations, or shifts in power dynamics.

Potential Outcomes: Positively, this could catalyze necessary changes, like breaking through stagnation for deeper authenticity. Negatively, it risks explosive conflicts, control issues, or abrupt endings if unresolved tensions erupt. Patience and strategic action (channeling Saturn's discipline) are key to mitigating fallout—avoid forcing issues, as Mars square Saturn often rewards endurance over aggression.
