Pakistan: Through a glass darkly

Nawaz Sharif [born 25 December 1949] is a Pakistani politician and industrialist whose party, Pakistan Muslim League-N, has won a majority in the recent elections. He has previously served as Prime Minister  of Pakistan for two non-consecutive terms from November 1990 to July 1993 and from February 1997 to October 1999. In 1990 the conservative forces for the first time in the country's history, came into the power under a democratic system, under the leadership of the Nawaz Sharif. Sharif took steps to initiate Islamization and conservatism ,a policy started by Zia ul Haq. So it would be reasonable to assume that Sharif’s new term will see a continuation of his Islamization policy with renewed vigor.

From the chart  of Pakistan we can see that the Ascendant forms a T-square with Mars-Poseidon, a combination that stands for religious fundamentalism or zealots (Mars) who propagate their beliefs (Poseidon). The table  above is a summary of the solar arc progressions for Pakistan and it shows that the progressed Sun will activate the T-square in the next two years. In addition, Uranus will transit over the Ascendant with Pluto square it.  A Uranus-Pluto combination is usually about the collapse of an old order. In the coming years we will see people  use ideas and intellect to create disruption, to accent differences, or  simply for the sake of instigating change.  Theology (Poseidon) may become a  basis for "revolution" (Uranus)  And this idea of change (Uranus)  relative to one's thinking, beliefs, faith or  principles (Poseidon)  will be HUGE; it is a time for a true CHANGE OF MIND. And this may not occur without serious confrontation between the old conservative forces and the forces of change. Uranus-Pluto can be expected to bring an  intensified cultural ferment in Pakistan  and accelerate  the pace of change. It will empower emancipatory and revolutionary movements so that new ideas (Uranus) can bring a change in belief systems (Poseidon). As transit Jupiter crosses 12cancer (Aug 2013 – Feb 2014) completing a T-square with Ascendant-Poseidon some of these changes may make themselves visible.
