Vulpecula-et- Ansere : The Fox and
the Goose
On warm summer mornings, James
Kistler likes to stand in his backyard and watch his pet ducks peck at the
ground for worms. Now he wonders if his days with Larry, Moe, Curly and Fred
are numbered. In May, Kistler received notice alleging he is in violation of
Delmont's ordinance regulating domestic pets. He said he will fight to keep his
beloved pet ducks. “You have got to be kidding me,” Kistler said, recalling his
reaction when he read the letter. “What do they hurt?” he said. “They're as
peaceful as can be. I just want them (borough officials) to leave me alone.”
The Sun[4ge08]
in the lunar eclipse of May 25,
2013 is square Neptune [5pi20] and conjunct the asteroid Kron [5ge30] so we can think of them as important parts of the
character of this eclipse. Amongst other things, Kron-Neptune means that authorities (Kron) need to be compassionate
(Neptune) or even disappointment (Neptune )
with authorities (Kron). The Moon [4sa08] is in an area of the heavens
about which Diana Rosenberg writes [1]:
They have a
distinct need to be different, to think for themselves, uncaring or unheeding of
what others think….they are likely to become dissidents, swimming against the
current, struggling against limitations, becoming thorns in the sides of
complacent powers-that-be determined to reform and renew…there are issues of
obedience vs rebellion and fear vs courage. (This would appear to describe Kistler)
Moon as the
ruler of Cancer which is on the cusp of the 6th house rules small
animals and pets. But the most interesting element of the chart is the
Ascendant [29cp02] conjunct alpha Vulpecula [29cp42], a star on the Goose in the constellation Vulpecula et Ansere, (the
Fox and the Goose *) [2]. Also here is
alpha Indus [29cp17] of the constellation Indus ,
the Indian. Here are people in love with the land and its creatures, longing
for a natural or primal way of life. In contrast, the Fox represents very
wilful people. With their need to
control and dominate situations there can be a harsh and deliberate suspension
of caring and conscience [3].
Interested
readers can progress this chart to July 1, the date of the news item to see the
Uranus-Pluto square on the angles.
The archetypal clash:
courageous/warrior-like actions of individuals on behalf of the people's
liberties (Uranus in Aries) vs. an intensification/consolidation of power by
institutional structures facing threats to their authority (Pluto in Capricorn). [4]
