American Quakers Help LGBT Ugandans Flee

A group of American Quakers are operating what they call a “new underground railroad” to help a few LGBT Ugandans flee their country, where a recent law imposes harsh penalties for homosexuality.

The Friends New Underground Railroad (FNUR), based in Washington state, sees itself as continuing the work of Quakers who historically helped slaves escape the American South. As of this Monday, they say they have worked with unnamed Ugandan “conductors” to fund and coordinate passage out of the country for 107 lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender Ugandans, nine of whom have reached Sweden, while several dozen others are “being processed for asylum status in countries around the world,” according to the group’s FAQ page. The chart for the current New Moon at Seattle, Washington is shown here. The New Moon [5cn37] occurred on the star Tejat [5cn30] of Gemini – the Twins.

The identical brothers were inseparable, and had a deep affection for one another, for which reason they were often worshipped as gods of homosexuality. [1]

In China, the star was part of the asterism Tsing “The Well”. This asterism dealt with digging new wells, cleaning, reinforcing the old, assuring  clean water; washing and by extension, cleansing of crime, moral uprightness, law and order. [2]

To the foregoing if we add Robson’s  [3] delineation of the star Tejat we can understand why a skewed understanding of law and order and moral uprightness has led to a witch hunt for the LGBT Ugandans.

Listed under Dirah "Seed" or "Branch" in Robson's book, Fixed stars and Constellations; "Symbolically called the Abused or Beaten One".  [Robson, p.163.]

The intolerance can be understood by the fact that Auriga’s whip hand is here. Diana Rosenberg lists the following issues of hatred, intolerance and bigotry under the Twins [2].

These stars were transited in 1099 when the Crusaders conquered Jerusalem and slaughtered Moslems and Jews in a ghastly blood-bath; at the St. Bartholomew’s Eve massacre of the Huguenots, Paris 1572; at a July, 1619 SolEcl one month before the first African slaves were brought to Virginia; at the birth of ardent, violent anti-slavery activist John Brown (hanged), at the murderous, largely race-motivated 1863 anti-draft riots in New York city during the US Civil War; in 1865 when the Ku Klux Klan was founded in Tennessee; at the May 1966 SolEcl when Mao Tse-Tung inaugurated China’s calamitous “Cultural Revolution”. This was the Moon at the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr and many others.

But fortunately positive influences come from Neptune [7pi31] and  Venus [4ge32] which are trine and semi-sextile the New Moon [5cn37]. Neptune is conjunct stars of Aquarius (as well as healing goddess Gula, his ancient predecessor) so that here we must make a great choice: whether to remain aloof to the anguish of others (or cause it!), or to learn sensitivity and compassion through our own painful experiences, becoming “wounded healers” who develop an impulse to help, save and restore. [4]

Venus is conjunct the star Menkib, xi Persei, [5ge10]. This is a star in the constellation Perseus, the Rescuer. [5] (see image above)
