Hundreds of leaked pages from the controversial
Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) show that the deal could
be about to collapse, according to campaigners. The huge leak – which gives the
first full insight into the negotiations – shows that the relationship between
Europe and the US are weaker than had been thought and that major divisions
remain on some of the agreement’s most central provisions. The talks have been
held almost entirely in secret, and most information that is known in public
has come out from unofficial leaks. But the new pages, leaked by Greenpeace,
represent the first major look at how the highly confidential talks are

The
Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) is a proposed trade
agreement between the European Union and the United States, with the aim of
promoting trade and multilateral economic growth. The agreement is under
ongoing negotiations and its main three broad areas are: market access;
specific regulation; and broader rules and principles and modes of
co-operation. Leaked copies of the confidential negotiation documents on the
Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) obtained by Greenpeace,
reveal that the US is putting significantly more intense, far-reaching pressure
on the European Union than previously thought in order to get access to the
European market.
From an
astrological perspective, we are interested in the first round of negotiations that
took place from 7–12 July 2013 in Washington DC under the auspices of the New Moon of 8 July 2013 which symbolically
contains the seed idea and possible outcome of the negotiations. The New Moon was conjunct Mercury and the star
Wasat which links the Gemini Twins. The
Twins are about co-operation and trade and commerce. It formed a T-square with Uranus-Pluto which
are in the 11th and 8th houses. The 8th is the house of financial or trade relations
with other nations or groups while the 11th rules associations and
groups formed with allies of the country
including the purpose of the group as well as its hopes and dreams [2]. Under a Uranus-Pluto square potentially power
struggles can take place between friends; individuals can disconnect or
distance themselves from others out of fear of becoming powerless or giving
others “an edge” over them.
So what
has happened now that indicates that the deal could be about to collapse? Well two things are happening in the 8 July
2013 New Moon chart. First Pluto which is transiting opposite the New Moon has
just turned retrograde on 18 April.
Under any
Pluto transit, we feel pressured to eliminate and release the old, outworn,
outdated and obsolete in our lives. But more specifically under Pluto retrograde we begin to assess what reoccurring patterns in our lives
make us feel out of control, where and why do we continually give our power
away to others.
Leaked
copies of the TTIP were made available by Greenpeace which has its headquarters
in Amsterdam. A chart for the upcoming New Moon of May 6 throws light on the
entire event. The luminaries are placed
in Taurus [16ta] on the chart descendant. The New Moon is, therefore, conjunct
the South Node [15ta] of the 8 July 2013 start of negotiations chart above. There the Nodal axis was square the meridian.
The MC/IC axis is best understood as an argument between public
responsibility and the need for privacy
and self-care. The Moon’s South Node in the 12th house evokes
imagery of “imprisonment” or “self-loss”. Taurus indicates simple instinctual
goodness which on the negative side can be naivete and vulnerability to the
predations of more Machiavellian types. With the TTIP, the danger is that the
Europeans will lose their autonomy and much more to the US.
But going a
step further let us analyze the May 6 New Moon chart at Amsterdam. Notice that it aligns the Jupiter-Neptune-Saturn-Mars
T-square with the meridian. Among other things Neptune rules “leaks” and “deception” while Saturn-Jupiter-Neptune together rule the “collapse
of those deceptive schemes”.
