Brexit: What to expect

MPs have rejected Theresa May’s EU withdrawal agreement on the day the UK was due to leave the EU. The government lost by 344 votes to 286, a margin of 58, and means the UK has missed an EU deadline to delay Brexit to 22 May and leave with a deal. Mrs May now has until 12 April to seek a longer extension to the negotiation process to avoid a no-deal Brexit on that date.  Mar. 29 https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-47752017

In his second book, The Changing Sky, Steven Forrest presented a model for sorting through the many possible planetary configurations that present themselves in a transits and progressions reading. This system, termed "The Four Nets," is applied to the jungle of astrological symbolism, each net catching creatures in descending orders of size. In the First Net, we see all the astrological biggies—major transits and directions  to and from  the Sun, Moon and Ascendant for example. By the time we get to the Third or Fourth Nets, we are looking at events we might safely ignore —unless the earlier Nets have come up empty. This is a strategic, orderly, and effective method for organizing one’s approach to a transits/progressions analysis.

Applying Steven’s method to the UK chart, we come up with a very significant progression to the natal Ascendant.

SOLAR ARC PLUTO conjunct ASCENDANT

This is such a biggie that we need to thoroughly understand what it means. This is a season of unmasking and presenting your true self to the world. And since Pluto is also opposite the descendant, one is likely to end relationships that have not been working. Pluto in astrology acts as a force for creative destruction. Under Pluto people and other entities are  tested for flaws in character. If the flaws are deep, they will fall (Theresa May ?). Fate will be the judge of any weakness here. There will be no mercy for bad decisions.

Notice that the  UK Ascendant [7li]  is conjunct Uranus [1li] which is opposite the TNP Vulcanus [1ar]. Martha Wescott’s keyphrase for Uranus-Vulcanus is “gale force winds of change”. Recall that the Equinox Full Moon fell exactly on this axis with the Sun [1ar] conjunct Chiron [1ar].  What might it mean when placed on the Aries-Libra axis.

The Aries-Libra axis is about balancing your needs with those of others. Chiron in Aries is where you feel you don’t have the right to be yourself. Chiron is where we feel wounded, ashamed, broken and inadequate. Chiron will challenge Aries’ expression of the self, expression of individuality. Chiron in Aries is about the greatest wounds of all – the wound of identity. The wound of identity is when we feel we don’t have the right to exist. This is the most painful wounds of all because it is the most difficult to grasp. As we grow up, if our self-expression is encouraged, we slowly develop our unique identity. But the process is not always smooth. Our parents may – rightly so – see us as an extension of themselves, and may have difficulties in acknowledging that we are a different human being.

Here the parent of course is symbolically the EU while the child is the UK. The “gale force winds of change” are likely to force the “child” (UK)  out of the parental (EU) nest.

The news item states:

Mrs May now has until 12 April to seek a longer extension to the negotiation process to avoid a no-deal Brexit on that date.

The First Quarter Moon falls exactly on April 12.  The Moon in CANCER squares Sun in ARIES.  Symbolically this represents a dilemma connected with family. An Aries-Cancer square represents self-will (Aries) in conflict with parental (Cancer) expectations. The wilfullness of Aries may be captured and held in limbo by fears or security issues. A person may not to be ready for grown up challenges and may find himself forced to grow up and take initiatives with which he is not entirely comfortable or yet mature enough to deal with.

A chart for the Moon phase at London is shown here. No astrological chart ever shows what will happen because human free will is a factor to be considered. However it does depict very graphically the nature of the problem faced and  probable outcomes.

The First Quarter Moon chart at  London has the Sun-Moon –Nodes  forming a T that straddles the horizon axis.  This is what is called a Moon Wobble.  Under Moon Wobble, accidents ( Theresa May's resignation or default Brexit?) are frequent  and so is an eruption of unconscious energies [1].

But in addition the Moon Wobble T-square has Saturn-Pluto-Uranus in  mundane square. Martha Wescott delineates this energy as below:

To see unexpected developments in a long-term problematic situation ; to have stress or tension create an uncompromising situation that forces a disruption or break ( or some form of Emancipation Proclamation).

The table below gives planets, TNP and asteroids of the First Quarter Moon chart arranged in a 90 degree sort.

Pandora-Persephone: People can unexpectedly find themselves in an unfamiliar circumstance and although they may have little experience they have to handle it probably without a support system.

Eurydike-Siwa-Pluto: People may have been depending on others and some of that dependency isn’t healthy. The destructive aspect of Siwa may destroy such dependency.

Saturn-Node: group co-operation is increasingly difficult.

Eris: Upsets and discord.

It appears that Uranus on the descendant as the apex of the T-square holds the key. Uranus forces a break from the conformity to the past . It supports  freedom and the expression of our uniqueness and originality challenging us to create new frontiers in experience and consciousness. It is the true pioneer, uninhibited by convention and establishment .  However, Uranus in its chronic expression can manifest as fear to change, to be spontaneous, or to take radical steps.  But here the Sabian symbol for Uranus seems to suggest that a break from the past is more likely:

PHASE 32 (TAURUS 2°): AN ELECTRICAL STORM.

KEYNOTE: The cosmic power able to transform all the implications of natural existence.

At this second stage of the five-fold sequence we see a picture which contrasts with the one for the first stage: thus, a celestial display of power versus a clear, lovely-sounding little stream. Back of every natural self-expression stands the tremendous power of the "Soul-field," itself but one of the myriad aspects of the Creative Word that is the origin of this universe. At certain times, this power compels the natural earth-conditioned personality to accept, perhaps in awe, the spiritual potentialities of its "higher" celestial destiny ( and for UK that means leave the EU?) . This experience of power can both illumine and shatter.

News just coming in (30 March 1.00 pm GMT)
Conservative Brexiteers are lobbying Theresa May to pursue a no-deal exit after her deal was rejected for the third time. Party chairman Brandon Lewis confirmed reports that 170 Tory MPs, believed to include several ministers, have written to the prime minister urging her to ensure the UK leaves the EU on April 12 no matter what.
