Great Britain leaves the European Union

It’s finally here after three and a half years, Brexit Day. The U.K. is formally out of the European Union.
The European Union just lost its first major battle against the people it rules with a disdainful technocratic fist….Brexit, symbolically, is about the people finally beating back the long march of the institutions towards global tyranny. That’s what the EU is, a vehicle for global regulatory alignment and governance that is fundamentally, as Farage points out, anti-democratic and anti-individual. Zerohedge

At the heart of Brexit was the question “Do individual member countries have the freedom to choose what they will or won’t do, or do collective institutions have the power to determine what actions will and won’t be allowed?”

Shown here is the natal chart of the United Kingdom. To find out what is happening in the present, astrologers “progress” a chart. One way  to progress a chart is by using solar arc directions. Using this method current solar arc Pluto is [7Libra30] conjunct the radix Ascendant in Libra (First House cusp). The first house rules the country and its inhabitants as a whole; the  Descendant in Aries(Seventh House cusp)  rules treaties and business partnerships with other nations.

SOLAR ARC PLUTO conjunct ASCENDANT

This is such a biggie that we need to thoroughly understand what it means. This is a season of unmasking and presenting your true self to the world. And since Pluto is also opposite the descendant, one is likely to end relationships that have not been working. The reason why they are not working is the imbalance between the Aries-Libra energy.

The Aries-Libra axis is about balancing your needs with those of others.

Pluto conjunct Ascendant  : Common people (UK) are in throes of intense upheaval in their lives to correct the relationship with their business partners (EU).

The UK chart has Aries north node in the seventh house and Libra south node in the first. The south node represents past patterns of behavior that we need to leave behind while north node represents habit patterns that we need to develop for a more productive future. With Libra South Node, the  risk is that UK may compromise too much or fail to develop its own identity. The country may enter binding arrangements before forming its own identity.

Aries North Node
Release (Libra south node):
Hiding out in partnerships, being the “best supporting actor” instead of the star, taking the comfortable path, avoiding challenges,  making compromises, putting others first, passive-aggression, codependence, enabling.

Embrace (Aries north node):
Prioritizing your own goals, being comfortable alone, the rewards of risk, fighting for your beliefs, expressing anger in an open and healthy manner

The next question to answer is why is it happening now. Well for one thing, solar arc directions are like the “hour hand” of the cosmic clock. We need something faster to come and trigger the hour hand. Eclipses that fall on the hour hand can serve as the minute hand triggering the potential into manifestation. The December 26 solar eclipse [Sun-Moon (4cp); Jup(5cp); North Node (8cp)] forms a square aspect to the UK Ascendant –Pluto solar arc (8li) thereby triggering it.

Progressing the eclipse chart to Jan.31 (Brexit day) brings the progressed Ascendant to a perfect alignment with the eclipse degree implying that the full energy of eclipse manifests in an event on that day. The eclipse makes hard aspects to the asteroids Icarus [2cp], Atropos [10ar]  and the radix midpoint [Cupido-Hades] [5li]. Martha Wescott [1] provides the following definitions:

ATROPOS: Endings, completion, conditions at the finish, what is needed to conclude.
ICARUS: Escapes that are careless of consequences; desire to “get outta' here;” the fast break impulse; attraction to speed, danger or risk; desire to get away from restrictions (of aspecting points).
CUPIDO: Issues in the family history; group unity or dynamics; comments on the home, residence or household themes; decor; artistry; sense for art; partner or family members.
HADES: Disgust/distaste; debilitation or deterioration; “messy” situations.

It is not too difficult to put the pieces together to reconstruct the event.

There has been a decline in group unity. Someone careless of consequences is willing to take a risk , end a partnership and just “get outta' there”
