At
the end of a week which has witnessed for the first time the bizarre and
disturbing spectacle of The New York Times publishing an op-ed by Taliban
deputy leader Sirajuddin Haqqani — a terrorist on the FBI's most wanted list —
a week-long "reductioa n in violence" between the US, the Taliban and
Afghan forces is set to begin Friday at midnight. Assuming it holds, this will
lead to the US signing a historic peace deal with the Taliban on February 29 in
a "signing ceremony" with senior representatives from both sides.
Astrologers use what is called a Solar Return chart for
an individual or a nation to forecast events during the course of the year. The
Solar Return is calculated for the exact time that the transit Sun conjoins the
radix Sun each year. Once the charts have been cast, they can be progressed by
standard methods to any date within the year to understand the planetary forces
acting on the individual or nation on that date.
Shown here is the current solar return for US chart (commonly
referred to as the Sibly) progressed to Friday, Feb. 21, the date of the
announcement in the news. Notice that on this date, the progressed horizon
triggers a powerful opposition. The Sun is opposite a Saturn-Pluto-South Node
conjunction.
The South Node of the Moon symbolizes past patterns of
behavior that have outlived their usefulness and need to be discarded. Here the
South Node is conjunct Saturn-Pluto amid stars of the Archer and the Eagle both
easily recognizable symbols of war.
"As for the
Archer, when the foremost portion of his cloak rises, he will give birth to
hearts renowned in war and will conduct the conqueror, celebrating great
triumphs in the sight of all, to his country's citadels." [Manilius,
Astronomica, 1st century AD, book 4, p.267]
Saturn-Pluto is
associated with constriction and pain followed by a rebirth of sorts. It can be
very hard on those who have over-extended themselves. Amid stars of the Archer,
it is obvious that the overextension has been the prolonged war in Afghanistan.
This is the time when anything false is forcefully deconstructed.
The Saturn-Pluto conjunction is occurring right on top of
the US Sibly radix TNP Kronos [21cp28] the Sabian symbol [1] for which is
delineated by Dane Rudhyar as below:
