Astrology of the Belarus protests

The 2020 Belarusian protests are a series of political demonstrations against the Belarusian government and President Alexander Lukashenko. The demonstrations, which are part of the Belarusian democracy movement, began in the lead-up to and during the 2020 presidential election (9 August), in which Lukashenko sought a sixth term in office.. The protests intensified after 14 August when the opposition candidate Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya claimed that she had received 60–70% of the vote and announced the creation of the Coordination Council, with membership applications open to all Belarusians who agree that the election had been falsified.

In mundane astrology, the affairs of a nation are judged primarily from the horoscope set up at the time of its official inauguration, and various phenomena such as eclipses, lunations, planetary stations and ingresses. The horoscope of Belarus [1]  based on its independence is reproduced here. The current solar arc progressed Sun [0li11] is square the MC [0cp58] and the Uranus/Kronos midpoint [1ar31].

Martha Wescott interprets the Uranus/Kronos midpoint as:

To see changes enforced by or of the leadership; to see changes/upsets in/through leadership, laws, rules and opinions or regulations; to be aware of defiance of rules and an independent attitude towards those in authority.

Readers will recall that the  solstice eclipse June 21 at [0cn21] fell exactly on the IC [0cn58] – the point in a national linked to the parties/ individuals who stand in opposition to the government [MC]. Moreover it triggered the solar arc Sun progression and the Uranus/Kronos midpoint with expected results.

For a moment let us examine the solar eclipse chart drawn for Minsk. Notice that Uranus [9ta] – the planet of revolutions [2] – is on the MC. On August 15, Uranus stationed to go retrograde.

In my previous post I wrote:

Although rarely on the station-day itself, but frequently within a week on either side of it, there is a marked shift in energy patterns, both psychologically and physically. Because the station-retrograde only initiates the disruption but does not complete anything, a feeling of dissatisfaction and suspension (at best) is stimulated or absolute chaos (at worst) abounds.

In addition, Mars which is about to turn retrograde will be making square aspects to the Saturn-Pluto conjunction in Capricorn. These powerful transits are all linked to clashes concerning the use and abuse of power. This is one of the major themes of the Saturn–Pluto conjunction in Capricorn, and it is now being challenged by the squares from Mars. It’s possible that people will become much more assertive in response to abuses of power at this time. This entire retrograde period may be forceful, divisive, and inflamed.

Here are  the current solar and lunar return charts for Belarus. Notice that the Mars-Saturn-Pluto square is aspecting the angles in both cases  and therefore very significant for Minsk.
