Much like the horoscope of an individual, nations have their own horoscopes. A study of a nation’s chart can help understand the most serious problems faced by the nation. India and Pakistan are twins born on 14/15 Aug. 1947. Presented here are their charts based on their independence from British colonial rule.
Transit Saturn is opposite their common Sun -Venus - Saturn - Pluto conjunction and Uranus is building up to a square. Generally this is a period when the nation in general and leaders in particular go through a hard time. There may be breakthroughs (or unexpected developments) in long term problematic situations. Stress and tension can create uncompromising situations that force a disruption or break (or some form of Emancipation Proclamation).
While there is a common principle at work, since the Sun -Venus - Saturn - Pluto conjunction is in different houses, the outward manifestation in terms of events are different. For Pakistan the conjunction is in the 11th house so that the pressure on its PM is coming from the Parliament as well as “allies” (the US?). With India, the conjunction is in the 4th house (the opposition) and with Saturn ruling the 9th house (law courts, lawyers, advocates etc.) there is a growing movement of Supreme Court lawyers against the government and its dubious victory in state elections. In addition liberals are adding their voice of sanity against state governments' attempts to enforce unconstitutional rules.
As always directions to a natal chart do not decide outcomes. They simply point to critical problems that may surface. How individuals or nations handle the crisis is entirely decided by their level of consciousness.
A look at the stars that form the backdrop to the common Saturn - Pluto conjunction can reveal what is required. Nick Fiorenza writes:

Some of the common "antiquated structures" for both the countries are (a) widespread corruption (b) religious fundamentalism that was the cause of the partition in the first place (c) the outdated caste system that inhibits any meaningful progress (this more for India).
