History in the stars: Roe vs Wade

A DAUGHTER OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION

Roe v. Wade was a landmark decision of the U.S. Supreme Court in which the Court ruled that the Constitution of the United States generally protects a pregnant woman's liberty to choose to have an abortion. The decision, which struck down many U.S. federal and state abortion laws,[ fueled an ongoing debate in the United States about whether, or to what extent, abortion should be legal, who should decide the legality of abortion, and what the role of moral and religious views in the political sphere should be. It also shaped debate concerning which methods the Supreme Court should use in constitutional adjudication.

The case was decided on January 22, 1973 with the progressed Sibly Sun conjunct Pluto [27cp] in Capricorn opposite Demeter [25cn]. The debate has been given new life by the current Pluto return. The asteroid Demeter is about motherhood and placed in Cancer, the sign astrology links to parenting we have a clear case of a reference to mothers. Pluto in Capricorn refers to the controlling power of the state so that the opposition is about a struggle between mothers and their liberty to choose to have an abortion and the state excersing its right to invade the private life of an individual. Under planetary transits, how an individual or a collective will respond is in direct correlation to its state of consciousness and the workings of its free will. In the US Sibly Pluto [27cp] is square the TNP Hades [0sc]. For Pluto-Hades, Martha Wescott writes:

Pluto-Hades: to see changes that are not for the better but that bring a decline.

The Supreme Court decision in the Roe Vs Wade case on Jan 22, 1973 took place in the shadow of a powerful lunar eclipse of Jan 18, 1973 that was not only angular at Washington DC but fell on the progressed Sun [27cp] thereby activating its conjunction to radix Pluto [27cp]. The eclipse axis straddled a Jupiter-Uranus square. A Jupiter-Uranus combination is usually a positive shift in attitude with an emphasis on emancipation and freedom. By protecting a pregnant woman's liberty to choose to have an abortion, the Supreme Court gave a positive expression to the Jupiter-Uranus energy. The present ruling has set the clock back.

With transit Pluto opposite the Jan 18, 1973 eclipse Moon [28cn40], the Sabian symbols [1][2] for the Moon and the degree following are very illuminating in the current context.

Each moment remains uncommitted until a decision cuts away options and, when definitively analysed, we come to see polarity of 'this or that' in everything. We live a life of choice between pairs of opposites - and whether and when we choose with mind, heart, body or soul is what determines who we become.

PHASE 120 (CANCER 30°): A DAUGHTER OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION.

One of the polarities arising in our life of choices is whether to be more revolutionary or more conservative. The one leads to seek change, the other often tends to glorify the past.

By striking down the Roe vs Wade decision, the Supreme Court has chosen to glorify tradition
