The phases of the Moon are among the most reliable indicators of events on earth. A New Moon or Full Moon can act as a local “step down transformer” for powerful energies generated by far away stars and planets that it aspects. To understand how their energies are focused at any place of interest astrologers routinely draw charts of monthly lunations. As always when a lunation appears on the angles it is considered significant for the place. Presented here is the chart for the upcoming July Full Moon drawn for Colombo, Sri Lanka. Notice its very significant alignment with the meridian along with Pluto.

Pluto’s archetype is endings-and beginnings, or death-and-rebirth. When it moves through any sign it carries the implication of an eruption of extremes in that particular arena of human experience. In Capricorn, the relevant areas are economics, commerce, authority hierarchies in general, and all the major institutions of culture. The Plutonian process involves increasing extremes followed by collapse. Certain institutions will change along the way, so that no collapse is seen, while others which refuse reform set themselves up for complete breakdown.

The Sri Lankan economy has been facing one of its worst ever crisis resulting from mismanaged government finances and inability to repay foreign debt. Recall that in astrology Pluto rules debt and here it is conjunct the Moon on the MC! The tenth house in general and the MC in particular rules the government so that Pluto here indicates the corruption of the government which now stands exposed.

In passing let us also note that the Sun [21cn] is placed amid the stars of the Gemini Twins, Castor and Pollux. Is it a coincidence that Rajapaksa brothers in charge of the government  have now been forced to resign!
