The phases of the Moon are among the most reliable indicators of events on earth. A Moon phase can act as a local “step down transformer” for powerful energies generated by far away stars and planets that it aspects. To understand how their energies are focused at any place of interest astrologers routinely draw charts of monthly lunations. Here is the chart for the Sep. 3rd First Quarter Moon drawn for Manhattan,NY where the incident occurred. Notice that Quarter Moon falls on the Ascendant and is part of a T-square with Mars that aligns significantly with the horizon.

The Moon is conjunct the star Antares, alpha Scorpii (the heart of the Scorpion) while the Sun is conjunct the star Zosma, delta Leonis. For these stars, Diana Rosenberg has:

Zosma: brooding, depression, suicidal tendencies

Antares: stress, depression, suicide.

Mars is conjunct the asteroid Lacrimosa (death; depression)
