In this post I intend to discuss some important transits in Russia’s national chart. Readers can see that Saturn has been transiting over the descendant (7th house cusp - enemies in mundane astrology) squaring the radix Pluto-Admetus opposition.
Admetus-Pluto: Situations that have been endured for a long time begin to surface – problems that have been on simmer break into a full rolling boil. Having delayed elimination of intolerable problems, one faces confrontation with self or others and experiences a need for return to integrity – a need to know where one stands (and then to decide if one is willing to stand there!). To see that things reach critical mass - in other words, although one has been able to stand up under increasing pressure, the burden finally becomes too great and there must be some relief or release. Uranus transiting over Admetus: Eruption of long held tensions.
Since 2014 the illegal coup in Ukraine and thereafter the shelling of the ethnic Russians in Donbass, Russia had excercised extreme patience while the Ukro-Nazis continued to flout the Minsk agreement. In 2021-22. It was in the later part of 2021 and early 2022 that Uranus began its transit over radix Admetus.
Pluto, in its positive expression, represents total transformation, the urge for complete change that bubbles away in the collective and wells up from time to time in the cultural equivalents of earthquakes, tidal waves, and volcanic eruptions. To get rid of the old and make way for the new, Pluto is extreme and cathartic. This is purging in profound endings and beginnings—death and rebirth. Often we are afraid of expressing our Pluto potential for fear that it may cause destruction all around. Yet when Uranus opposes Pluto we may have no alternative.
Look at the Sabian symbol for Russia’s Pluto.
Scorpio 22 (21° - 22°): HUNTERS SHOOTING WILD DUCKS.
KEYNOTE: The socially accepted release of an individual's or a group's aggressive instincts.
The animal nature is aggressive and cannot be easily tamed so needs to be accommodated somehow within normal social behaviour. Ducks do not conveniently fly into our larders, they need to be hunted, and hunting is a full-on passionate, yet highly sensitive, skill. If we are to fulfil our potential, then, against opposition, we need to go out of our way to harness our abilities and desires towards a given specific target. The aggressive survival instinct in man cannot easily be ditched; indeed perhaps it should not be even if it could be. In an organism as complex as a human being who can say what would result from denying a powerful instinctual drive? Denied passions do not usually stay long hidden.
Notice how elegantly, the Sabian tells us that the cosmos sort of grants permission for Russia to invade Ukraine!
