Why Israel is risking a dramatic escalation with Iran

On April 1, Israel bombed and ultimately destroyed the Iranian consulate annex building situated next to the Iranian Embassy in Damascus, Syria. The strike, which killed seven military officials, was widely condemned by the international community as a clear violation of Syria’s sovereignty, as well as of the Vienna Convention and the established norms of international relations....It is a bold gambit for the government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to have resorted to such an escalation. It begs the question, why did Israel do this?

In Netanyahu’s chart [1] Jupiter [17ta] has been squaring his radix Pluto[17le]. How might the combination manifest on the personal level? Jupiter is boundless optimism and self-confidence. But the psychological attitude that allows us to create a brighter future can also turn us into fools. Jupiter’s energy always feels good but whether it will bring us success depends on whether it is tempered with self-knowledge and integrity. Most often it leads to overextension followed by failure.

The horoscope of Israel[2] has a Saturn-Pluto conjunction in the 10th house which governs the Prime Minister or the head of the nation. Among other things Capricorn and its ruler Saturn are associated with government and those in power. Pluto, as Lord of the underworld, always brings shadow material to the surface. As it passes through a sign or aspects a planet, the darker dimensions of that sign or planet loom large in the collective experience. Dark Capricorn or Saturn can be frightening. It invokes the image of the controlling tyrant suppressing truth and murdering enemies, real or perceived. Ultimately, it is not even really about a political ideology. Ultimately it is about fear: the fear of losing control or power, the fear of change, the fear of anything or anyone perceived as alien, and fear of the unknowable future.

Where things have stagnated for a long time, Pluto acts as a force for creative destruction. Under Pluto transits people and other entities are tested for flaws in character. If the flaws are deep, they will fall. Netanyahu (b. 21 Oct. 1949) has his radix Sun [27li] conjunct Israel’s Ascendant [23li] with both receiving a powerful hard transit from Pluto. Technically this transit has been active for the last couple of years and will go out of orb only after October 2024.

For the stars that form the backdrop to Israel’s radix Sun[23ta], Diana Rosenberg has “intolerance, persecutions and genocides” and “hard choices of patience and endurance vs irritability, cruelty, rage and violence; acts of fanaticism”.

With Uranus currently moving over Israel’s radix Sun [23ta] these qualities inherent in the nation’s leaders are being brought to light. With the upcoming Jupiter-Uranus conjunction right on top of Israel’s radix Sun [23ta29] - Kronos [21ta49] in the 8th house we can expect some positive changes through for example the sudden death or removal of the leader.

Next, we note that the April 8, solar eclipse [19ar] fell in Israel’s 7th house and was a follow up to the Oct 14, 2023 solar eclipse [21li] on the Ascendant. The Oct 14 eclipse virtually coincided with the Oct 7, Hamas attack and the upheaval that followed.

About these eclipses, H.S. Green in his book Mundane Astrology writes:

Eclipse in the First House: Changes follow...national problems give rise to anxiety; the Government suffers; and some great personage may die.

Eclipse in the Seventh House: Foreign affairs are disturbed and will cause trouble; changes in international relations may present problems; there is danger of some rival or enemy gaining advantage.

Netanyahu’s progressed Sun [13cp] is making hard aspects to his natal asteroids Pandora [12cp]; Orpheus [11ar] and Tiisphone [10cn]

Martha Wescott interprets as follows:

Orpheus/Pandora

There may be reactions to an unexpected loss or because a loss has brought one something (or something to deal with) that they hadn't expected.

Orpheus/Tisiphone

In several different ways, I think the concept of "justice" is going to be linked with sorrow or death. At one point, you may hear media mention of crimes that are centered around a loss of life and some call for "justice." At another moment, there may be thoughts about whether a person DESERVES to die.

The next important thing to look at is transiting Mars-Saturn conjunction[15pi] opposite Netanyahu’s radix Saturn [15vi] - a major affliction! The Minor Arcana card Nine of Cups is linked to the second decan of Pisces.

Nine of Cups Reversed Tarot Card Key Meanings:

Shattered dreams, nightmares, unhappiness, devastation, misery, lack of fulfilment, negativity, pessimism, disappointment, lack of success/accomplishment, disadvantage, underachieving, unrewarding, low self-esteem, addictions, eating disorders, self-hatred, arrogance, immaturity.

About the second decan of Pisces, Austin Coppock writes:

Something false can start off successfully, but with time the real truth will be revealed... the “protean” figures of the second face of Pisces can be “tricksters, liars who try to paint the portraits of their understanding and sculpt the form of their visions,” yet they necessarily fall short as “form utterly fails the profound,” and “the truth cannot be copied.”

Coppock concluded that the crux of this decan centers on fulfillment coming from the harmonizing of one’s inner perceptions with one’s outer life, as torment and grief will overcome those unable to harmonize their outer and inner worlds.

PS

Iranian commandos have hijacked MSC ARIES an Israeli ship off Dubai coast. A chart for the Aries solar eclipse(!!) has Mars-Saturn (military action) conjunction in Pisces (ocean) significantly placed on the IC in hard aspect to Pluto (use of force).
