Venus-Mars-Pluto: A reassessment of love triangles

Perhaps the most important celestial event this week is the retrograde station of Mars. The table below gives its interactions with Venus and Pluto

The fact that Mars is only retrograde approximately every two years and two months is significant because we become accustomed to its straightforward direct transits. When transiting Mars stations and turns retrograde, all externalized drive and focused energy reverses its direction. 

“Mars retrograde in Leo takes us into deeper areas of our creative self, true power, and driving needs,” according to astrologer Molly McCord. “Themes in Leo may reveal where you are at war with your future self, and in a losing battle based on an unhealthy self-expression.” The station can be quite an abrupt phenomenon, creating a cessation of interest, drive, energy and focus in what might have been an important project or relationship prior to that station. 

One's recognition of what levels of unresolved conflict have been incubating often proves liberating, allowing one to marshal one's forces more appropriately. Often, Mars retrograde brings issues to the surface which one has either forgotten or deliberately repressed because of their disruptive qualities. Old wounds, hurts or frustrations might arise apparently out of context, but there is always a purpose for the disruption. 

A Mars-Pluto-Venus interaction often suggests a crisis in relationships and the retrograde station of Mars is calling for a reassessment of desires. Something is boiling over. Is it inside you? In someone close to you? Much the same. The laws of synchronicity bind inner and outer events together in patterns. Your psyche and your world mirror each other. You can use its propulsive energy to enter new existential superhighways, full of emotional engagement - or as exit ramps from highways that have become dull and featureless. Aggression and overdone self-assertion need to be given a rest. Let things play out a little; if you have opponents or adversaries, just give them a little time to screw things up. Let them do the work for you.
