The Legend of Ochi

The film The Legend of Ochi, was released in the US for the general public on April 25, 2025. The adventure film is set in a secluded village on the island of Carpathia. Yuri, a young girl, is taught by her father, Maxim, to fear the elusive ochis. However, when she finds a wounded baby ochi, she realizes the baby ochi is not the terrifying beast of legend, leading to a mission of mercy and rebellion to return the baby home.. This journey is set against the backdrop of her longing to reconnect with her mother, Dasha, played by Emily Watson, who lives in the deep woods, adding a layer of personal growth and familial dynamics to the narrative.

The film explores several themes, primarily the tension between fear and understanding, as Yuri's journey challenges the village's perception of ochis. It also delves into personal growth, with Yuri finding herself and respecting nature, as mentioned on Roger Ebert.

It is interesting that this film was released to the American public just two days after the Sun-Pluto square that along with Mars completed a T aligned very significantly with the meridian at Washington DC.

Among other things, Pluto symbolizes the world of demons and beasts that we are taught to fear. In Aquarius, Pluto is helping analyze fears with a sense of detachment, using new perspectives to dismantle irrational anxieties about the unknown. Opposite Mars in Leo, the combination is teaching us courage to address the fears.

This is exactly what Rilke was addressing when he wrote:

“We have no reason to mistrust our world, for it is not against us. Has it terrors, they are our terrors; has it abysses, those abysses belong to us; are dangers at hand, we must try to love them. And if only we arrange our life according to that principle which counsels us that we must always hold to the difficult, then that which now still seems to us the most alien will become what we most trust and find most faithful. How should we be able to forget those ancient myths about dragons that at the last moment turn into princesses; perhaps all the dragons of our lives are princesses who are only waiting to see us once beautiful and brave. Perhaps everything terrible is in its deepest being something helpless that wants help from us”. ― Rainer Maria Rilke

Rilke was born 3 December 1875 ; 23:50 hrs; Prague, Czech Republic [1]. The above quote was written by him on 12th August 1904, as part of his work Letters to a Young Poet. On that date his diurnal Ascendant [20ge] was conjunct transit Pluto [21ge]. Moreover his radix Pluto[22ta] was conjunct the star Algol [24ta] depicted as the frozen face of Medusa. This star symbolizes facing fears, confronting the shadow self, or harnessing primal forces for growth.
