Israeli firefighting teams have been tackling wildfires near Jerusalem for a second day, with police reporting the reopening of several major roads that had been closed. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Thursday that 18 people have been detained on suspicion of arson, according to Israel’s Arutz Sheva media outlet.

In a previous post, On why accidents happen [1], I explained that accidents are not random events. They happen only when we ignore the cosmic push to take “the higher road”. Now that we are at the end of a long Mars-Pluto opposition, we are facing the consequences of the choices we have made (or not made). For some there is a breakthrough, for others a breakdown [2].
The most important transit in the Israel’s chart has been Uranus conjoining radix Sun [23ta] in the 8th house which rules joint resources. According to Helena Woods - Uranus transits bring "massive amounts of change — authenticity, rebellion, suddenness, revolution, freedom, breaking boundaries, and the unexpected."AstroLibrary - Uranus Transits to Natal Sun suggests this transit can result in "revolutions and instability, disrupting routine and creating chaos, but also offering opportunities for breakthroughs." For a national chart, this transit could indicate major shifts in governance, policy, or societal structures, often triggered by unexpected events.
So for example a 8th house Sun can raise questions about whether we are being fair with the allocation of resources that we might hold with someone else. For Israel would that hint at the occupation of Palestinian land especially since the Sun is in Taurus (land)?. One can always double down and refuse to address the issue and thereby create “karma”. As mentioned earlier accidents happen and usually continue to happen till we take the “higher road”.
But for now we will restrict ourselves to the astrology of the April 30 wildfire. Going back to Israel’s chart we have 8th house Sun [23Ta] (EARTH) square 11th house Mars [28le] (FIRE). Am I willing to share my joint resources (8th) to fulfill ideals and dreams of a greater life (11th ). That is a question that this square raises. The Sun is conjunct Algol (Medusa’s head) - Self-defeating forces that freeze us in hatred and fear. While Mars is conjunct Alphard (alpha Hydra - Snake’s heart) but also Adhafera and Aljabha (Leo). Our judgements keep us separate and alone (Hydra) but we need the courage of Leo (the Lion) to live true to self rather than to the momentum of antiquated dogmatic consciousness, breaking trail and pioneering new ways true to heart.
As mentioned earlier, the completion of the Mars-Pluto opposition is presenting a make or break moment. Three charts (a) Mars ingress into Leo (fire)
(b) Pluto station chart
(c) Israel’s upcoming solar return chart, carry the Mars-Pluto opposition on the angles. Mars in fiery Leo is an obvious connection to fires.
But from a deeper psychological point of view, a Mars-Pluto opposition is a time for shadow work, where individuals must face their darker aspects—such as over aggressiveness or repressed anger —to achieve psychological wholeness. It involves letting go of old patterns, attachments, and identities that no longer serve, which can be painful but necessary for growth. Surrendering to the unknown is a key psychological task. But for some it may be a “fight to the death” with potential for long-lasting regret.
Failure to do the deep psychological work is the primary cause of external events that we perceive as accidents!
