Calcutta’s New Metro lines inaugurated at Uranus New Moon

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated three new Kolkata Metro routes on August 22, 2025, at around 4:15 PM IST. The first commercial run, the Green Line (Howrah Maidan–Salt Lake Sector V, including the Sealdah–Esplanade section) began commercial operations on August 22, 2025, from 6:00 PM IST.

The phases of the Moon are among the most reliable indicators of events on earth. To understand how their energies are focused at any place of interest astrologers routinely draw charts of monthly lunations. If the lunations occur on the angles they are considered especially significant for the place. A chart for the August 23, 2025 New Moon at Calcutta has it placed prominently on MC square Uranus and part of a Yod.

A Yod, often called the "Finger of God," is a rare and significant astrological configuration involving two planets in a sextile (60°) aspect, both quincunx (150°) to a third planet, the apex. In this case, the Yod forming around the New Moon on August 23, 2025, has the Sun as the apex, with Pluto, Saturn, and Neptune forming the base (Pluto-Saturn-Neptune sextile), and an additional Pluto-Uranus trine influencing the dynamic.

The Sun, conjunct the Moon during the New Moon, is in Virgo, emphasizing themes of service and practical transformation. The inauguration of the new Metro lines will serve a long standing need for the people of Calcutta **.

The sextile between these planets (Pluto-Saturn, Saturn-Neptune, Pluto-Neptune) indicates a cooperative yet intense energy. It suggests an opportunity to align transformative power (Pluto) with discipline (Saturn) and vision (Neptune). This base creates a foundation for profound shifts, blending practicality with idealism.

Now if we draw the chart for the start of the commercial operation (Aug 22, 6pm) the Sun is exactly on the descendant as part of same complex. This serves as the “minute hand”of the cosmic clock with the New Moon as the “hour hand”.

The pre-independence engineer who first envisaged the need for a metro connecting Sealdah and Howrah was Sir Harley Dalrymple-Hay, and he proposed this idea in 1921 when Uranus was trine Pluto. His ambitious plan included a 10.6 km underground railway with 10 stops, featuring a tunnel beneath the Hooghly River to connect Kolkata with Howrah, as detailed in his book Calcutta Tube Railways.
