HONG KONG, Nov 26 (Reuters) - At least 36 people were killed and 279 were missing on Wednesday after Hong Kong's deadliest fire in three decades ripped through high-rise residential towers sheathed in flammable bamboo scaffolding, authorities said.
Hours after the fire started in the northern Tai Po district, flames and thick smoke still engulfed the 32-storey towers where many people were believed trapped inside. Rescue workers swarmed the site as shocked inhabitants watched on.

Mars at 15° Sagittarius square the nodal axis (Moon’s South Node 14° Virgo, North Node 14° Pisces). Mars–Node squares are classic for sudden, violent, collective accidents and mass-casualty events. Mars is exactly on the fixed star Aculeus (15°–16° Sagittarius) in Scorpius’ stinger — Diana Rosenberg lists this star as repeatedly showing up in catastrophic fires and explosions. Mizar (ζ Ursae Majoris) at 15° Virgo 30′ is only 1°30′ from the South Node and is squared by Mars within 30′ orb. Mizar is one of the best-documented fixed stars for large-scale fires and disasters (Rosenberg, Brady, Ebertin, and Rigor all cite it in major conflagrations).
As mentioned above, Mars forms a very tight 150° quincunx (inconjunct) to Hades (orb < 10′ on the 90° dial). Mars/Hades is the classic cosmobiology combination for arson, malicious fire-setting, and destructive blazes. In mundane charts it repeatedly appears in major fire disasters.
