On 23 August 2026 at 08:24:55 UT, a short video of a crow mastering a water tap began circulating widely. The bird turned the handle on, drank, and thoughtfully turned it off again — a clear display of problem-solving, memory, and imitation of human behaviour. When a mundane chart is cast for the moment of the post (drawn for London), the sky offers a remarkably precise symbolic mirror.
The Ascendant sits at approximately 5° Libra, with early stars of the constellation Corvus, the Crow, rising. Venus, ruler of the Ascendant, stands at around 15° Libra in close conjunction with Algorab (δ Corvi), the star traditionally placed in the right wing of the celestial crow. Algorab carries a Mars-Saturn nature and is classically linked with craftiness, ingenuity, and the resourceful intelligence of the raven family.
Mars itself occupies 7–8° Cancer, tightly conjunct the Midheaven and forming a square to the Ascendant. The Sabian symbol for this degree of Mars is especially evocative:

The mythic background of Corvus adds another layer. In classical legend the crow was sacred to Apollo. Sent to fetch water in a cup (the constellation Crater), the bird delayed, ate figs, and then lied, claiming a water-snake (Hydra) had blocked its path. Apollo punished it by placing the crow, the cup and the serpent in the sky, condemning the bird to eternal thirst. In the modern video the crow has inverted the ancient story: instead of failing at its water task, it has successfully operated a human water source through intelligence and imitation.
Taken together, the rising of Corvus, Venus conjunct Algorab, Mars on the Midheaven at the Sabian degree of imitation, and the square linking action to the Ascendant form a coherent celestial commentary on the event. The chart does not “cause” the crow’s cleverness, of course, but it does illustrate how the sky can sometimes speak the same language as the moment it is asked to describe.
