On the evening of 6 September 2026, as the first projections flashed across German screens, something more than a regional election result appeared in the sky.
The chart for the moment the AfD’s decisive victory in Saxony-Anhalt became public (Magdeburg, 18:20 CEST) shows Pluto tightly rising on the Ascendant in early Aquarius, forming a precise trine to Uranus on the IC. Reinhold Ebertin’s classic combination for this planetary pair is unambiguous: “the collapse of an old order and the beginning of a new one.”
This was no isolated transit.
Both of the standard German national charts are living through a rare and powerful secondary-progression period. In the 24 May 1949 Federal Republic chart, the progressed Sun has already conjoined natal Pluto (exact in August 2024) and is applying to a square of the Midheaven in mid-2027. In the 3 October 1990 Reunification chart, the progressed Sun reaches an exact conjunction with natal Pluto on 17 September 2027. These are once-in-a-generation signatures of structural transformation at the level of the state itself.
Simultaneously, the AfD’s own founding chart (14 April 2013, 11:10 CEDT, Berlin) is receiving the same planetary message. Progressed solar arc Pluto formed an exact square to the natal Sun on 9 August 2026 — only four weeks before the Saxony-Anhalt result. Progressed solar arc Uranus will perfect its conjunction with the same Sun in November 2028. Pluto pressures and dismantles; Uranus electrifies and empowers the outsider. Together they describe the precise process now unfolding: an established order under irreversible strain while a previously marginal force consolidates real power.
There is even a fixed-star echo. The AfD’s natal Sun at 24° Aries sits with Acamar, the star that once marked the end of the celestial river Eridanus — traditionally imaged as a dam holding back the flow. In the hours after the exit polls, economist and commentator Max Otte reached for exactly the same metaphor: “It’s like a dam and like a river that has been damned up for too long. It’s breaking now.”
The 6 September event chart did not create the current. It simply made visible what the longer secondary progressions in the national charts and in the AfD’s own radix had already set in motion. The dam has cracked. The water is moving. What shape the new riverbed will take remains the great open question of the coming years.
