When the Steering Snaps: Phaethon, Neptune and Germany’s Full Moon of 26 September 2026

On Saturday 26 September 2026 the Full Moon occurred at 3°37' Aries–Libra. Relocated to Berlin it fell tightly on the horizon axis: the Moon (and Neptune) rising in early Aries, the Sun setting in early Libra. Angular Full Moons for a capital city are always worth watching. This one carried an extra signature that proved uncannily precise.

 

 

In the 90° sort we find:

• Neptune at 2°58' Aries Rx
• Moon at 3°37' Aries
• Phaethon at 1°45' Libra (opposite and therefore also angular)

Martha Wescott’s keyword list for Phaethon is terse and practical: “Instances that involve cars, transport, driving; other forms of recklessness – feeling out of control.”

Neptune, newly established in Aries, complicates the sign’s usual clarity of direction. Aries charges forward like the ram; Neptune dissolves the map. The result is confusion about where one is going, or the sudden disintegration of the very mechanism that provides direction.

Within hours of the Full Moon, Germany’s Federal Motor Transport Authority confirmed a major safety recall. A bolt securing the steering system in millions of Volkswagen, Audi, Skoda and Seat vehicles had proved susceptible to corrosion. In the worst case the bolt could snap, “rendering a vehicle unsteerable.” The global total approached four million cars. The largest German automotive recall since Dieselgate arrived under an angular Phaethon–Neptune Full Moon for Berlin.

The same celestial picture speaks to the political atmosphere. Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s government is under intense pressure after successive state-election setbacks. The AfD continues to surge; questions of national direction — economic, migratory, and strategic — dominate the conversation. Once again the metaphor of lost steering control is difficult to ignore.

Elwell’s observation holds. A corroding bolt in a car’s steering rack and a government struggling to maintain direction appear, at first sight, to belong to entirely different categories.
