Venus Synod at the Clear Mountain Stream: Alrischa, Mirach, Mira and the Soul’s Pure Release

Today (October 24, 2026) Venus stations in exact conjunction with the Sun—the midpoint of its retrograde cycle. From Earth we see the geocentric Venus-Sun alignment at 0° Scorpio 45′. A synod, however, is defined heliocentrically: looking from the Sun toward the two planets that are aligning. In this case Venus and Earth conjoin at 0° Taurus 45′.

That degree falls directly on a powerful stellar trio: Alrischa (the Knot) at 29° Aries 45′, Mirach at 0° Taurus 45′, and Mira at 1° Taurus 54′. The late Nick Fiorenza’s astronomical-star readings give us a clear map of the evolutionary challenge these stars present.

Alrischa is the knot that ties the two fishes of Pisces together—the primordial past articulated as neurological and psychic tension that seeks resolution. It is the “bond—as in glue—that ties our past with our future.” The upright fish creates the motive to rise from submersion in that past; the horizontal fish keeps the pull of origin alive. Residual emotional and psychic material (genetic, cultural, evolutionary) must be released or accepted rather than denied or merely intellectualized.

Mirach, Beta Andromedae, signifies a bond of strength and intent of the soul. It can stimulate the desire of two people to become or achieve something greater than either could alone. Conjoined with themes of the Andromeda Galaxy, it points to the potential beauty that becomes possible through the human evolutionary process—the courage to claim the soul of the queen and do the inner work required.

Mira, the variable star in the neck of Cetus, is “all glitter and glamour, offering just a bellowing show.” It can impel short-lived excitement, boastful or exaggerated dramatic expression, or merely shallow glitter. Yet it also carries the need to look deeper—to see the truth behind surface appearances—and to hear the human cry that must be met.

Taken together at the Venus-Earth synod, the stars ask us to untie or re-weave the old knots of the past, form (or strengthen) soul-level bonds that enlarge both parties, and refuse the temptation of glamorous but fleeting emotional shows. The midpoint of the retrograde cycle becomes an invitation to reorient values, relating, and desire at a deeper level.

The Sabian symbol for the exact synod degree (Taurus 1°) perfects this picture:

PHASE 31 (TAURUS 1°): A CLEAR MOUNTAIN STREAM.
Keynote: The pure, uncontaminated and spontaneous manifestation of one’s own nature.

Dane Rudhyar writes: “Here we see life substance in its original dynamic form and as it emerged from its spiritual source… In a sense the mountain stream is conditioned by the nature of the soil and by all the forces which in the past have formed the mountain’s rock strata: that is to say, by past history. Yet out of this past a new, pure (i.e. unadulterated) release of potentiality has emerged. It is ready to perform whatever work its dharma is to accomplish… It is flowing irresistibly toward its own destiny. It is simply ITS OWN NATURE.”

The clear mountain stream is the perfect image for what Fiorenza’s stars demand. The rock strata of the past (Alrischa’s knot) still condition the course, yet a pure, uncontaminated flow of potentiality is released. Mirach’s soul-bond is that flow becoming stronger through relationship; Mira’s glitter is the temptation to muddy the stream with surface drama. The synod asks us to let the water run clear—to allow the spontaneous manifestation of our own nature, freed from contamination yet informed by everything that has shaped the mountain.

In an earlier post [1] we explored the opening of this Venus retrograde cycle and the way the stars announce a course on love. Now, at the exact midpoint, the sky itself stages the next movement: from the binding knot of past templates, through the possibility of liberating soul-bonds, into the pure release of what is simply our own nature flowing toward its dharma.

The challenge, and the gift, is to keep the stream clear.

PS

Alpha (α) Pisces, Alrisha marks the Knot of the Cord, formed by the joining together of the ends of the ribbons that binds the two Fishes by the tail.

The constellation Pisces is composed of the western fish, which swims westward horizontally along the ecliptic plane back toward Aquarius. The western fish is a symbol of our priori inherited ideologies that we are born into. The eastern fish leaps upward, vertically from the ecliptic plane, seeking a greater freedom on the shores of sidereal Aries. The eastern fish articulates our desire to ascend from our past assumptions and belief systems and our capacity to awaken from submersion in ignorance.
