Scorpio New Moon 2026: Rocky Ground, Torch in the Darkness, and the Call to Raise What Was Rejected

The New Moon of 9 November 2026 at 16°53′ Scorpio arrives as a tightly focused stellium of unusual depth. Sun and Moon meet almost exactly on TNP Poseidon, with the distant TNO Zhulong (the Chinese Torch Dragon) and the centaurs Petraios and Elatus clustered around the same degree. This configuration does not replace the broader consensus picture offered by most astrologers — a private, regenerative Scorpio cycle concerned with intimacy, power, shared resources, self-mastery, and the release of emotional or material “junk,” complicated by Mercury and Venus still retrograde and a wide square to the Mars-Jupiter conjunction in Leo. Instead, the minor bodies and Trans-Neptunians sharpen the picture with the same kind of specificity that Sabian symbols or fixed stars provide.

Petraios, whose name means “rocky,” recalls the centaur who tried to uproot an oak by sheer force and was pinned to it. It speaks of strength that meets rooted structure, of the edge between chaos and order, and of the necessity to ground raw power before it becomes destructive. In the New Moon it suggests that the delays, obstacles and frustrations already noted in the New Moon=Admetus/Zeus midpoint material are themselves the rocky ground that forces greater stability.

Zhulong, the Torch Dragon that creates day and night by opening and closing its eyes and that illuminates the ninefold darkness, brings the courage to face inconvenient truths long suppressed by denial or self-deception. Its near-exact conjunction with the luminaries and Poseidon turns Scorpio’s probing intensity into a literal torch in the dark.

Elatus, the centaur of self-expression under pressure, adds the demand (and the gift) of finding an authentic voice precisely when circumstances compress us. The cycle does not favour, running away, silence or superficial speech; it favours the articulation that only rocky containment and illuminated difficulty can call forth.

Into this already potent picture comes a very close trine from the Hades-Kronos midpoint to the New Moon–Poseidon–Zhulong cluster. In Uranian terms Hades often represents what has been rejected, relegated to the underworld, or labelled “evil” or unclean — material that resonates strongly with Zhulong’s theme of piercing denial. Kronos, by contrast, elevates, raises high, and asks that something be recognised as a standard of excellence or a spiritual ideal. The trine therefore suggests an evolutionary movement: what was once cast out or feared is now being invited upward, to be accepted and striven for within our spiritual endeavours (Poseidon).

The stellar backdrop to this Hades-Kronos axis includes Sirius and Canopus. Nick Fiorenza describes Sirius as the impetuous and blazing Great World Teacher, knowledge-holder of ancient hermetic wisdom, capable of bringing teachings or events of global or profound proportion that catalyse tremendous evolutionary change. Canopus, second only to Sirius in brightness and a galactic equatorial star, is the navigator of the Argo — director of the greater galactic mission of souls in our solar system. Their presence implies that the raising of what was rejected is not merely personal psychotherapy; it participates in a larger teaching and navigational current.

Read together with the Sabian symbol for Scorpio 17° — “A woman, fecundated by her own spirit, is ‘great with child’” — and with Zuben Elgenubi’s themes of moving from karmic entrapment toward dharmic freedom, the New Moon becomes a moment of inner gestation under pressure. Focused enthusiasm is tested by rocky delays; inconvenient truths are illuminated; a more authentic voice is forced into expression; and material once labelled dark or unacceptable is invited to rise into the light of spiritual aspiration. The direction of evolutionary development appears to be precisely this: the conscious raising and integration of what was rejected, guided by the torch of Zhulong, grounded on Petraios’s rocky stability, articulated through Elatus, and oriented by the world-teacher and navigator stars that stand behind Hades-Kronos.

The work is private, slow, and demanding of honesty. Yet the trine promises that the effort is supported, and that what is gestated in the dark can eventually be born as something worthy of being raised high.

Every combination can have both a positive and negative manifestation. The X-Post [1] was uploaded on Nov 6, just a day before the Waning Crescent Moon. A chart for which at Bastrop, Tx (X-Platform) has the same trine discussed above. For the Sun position [14-17sc] Diana Rosenberg writes “Tropical Scorpio and the head of the Serpens .. is an area of attempts to dominate and resistance to domination…”. The Moon [28vi] is conjunct the star Bentanash which Nick Fiorenza links to leaders trying to manipulate their followers. Also the star Sirius on the MC, when negative, which is conjunct TNPs Kronos-Hades shares much the same qualities
