Eye of the Archer and Dua’s layer

Scientists have discovered a previously unknown layer lurking in the human eye. The newfound body part, dubbed Dua's layer, is a skinny but tough structure measuring just 15 microns thick, where one micron is one-millionth of a meter and more than 25,000 microns equal an inch. It sits at the back of the cornea, the sensitive, transparent tissue at the very front of the human eye that helps to focus incoming light, researchers say. The feature is named for its discoverer, Harminder Dua, a professor of ophthalmology and visual sciences at the University of Nottingham . Amongst other things   Uranus-Pluto square of 2007–2020 has been associated with  “sharply accelerated technological and scientific advance with major social and environmental repercussions.” [1] It may  surprise readers that  the stars that form the backdrop for Uranus-Pluto can actually indicate the area where these breakthroughs can be made. I propose we look at the last sola...

Neptune eclipse and the Music of the Spheres

Cambridge, MA - Plato, the Greek philosopher and mathematician, described music and astronomy as "sister sciences" that both encompass harmonious motions, whether of instrument strings or celestial objects. This philosophy of a "Music of the Spheres" was symbolic. However, modern technology is creating a true music of the spheres by transforming astronomical data into unique musical compositions. Gerhard Sonnert, a research associate at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, has published a new website that allows listeners to literally hear the music of the stars. He worked with Wanda Diaz-Merced, a postdoctoral student at the University of Glasgow whose blindness led her into the field of sonification (turning astrophysical data into sound); and with composer Volkmar Studtrucker, who turned the sound into music. Harvard-Smithsonian  Press Release  Thursday, May 30, 2013 09:00:00 AM EDT Not a very great piece of news one would say. ...

NSA’s eavesdropping and the Lunar Eclipse

The US National Security Agency (NSA) is collecting the telephone records of tens of millions of Americans, US officials have confirmed. The practice, first reported by the Guardian newspaper, has been used to stop a "significant" terrorist attack on the US , a senior congressman said. On Wednesday, the newspaper published the secret order directing the Verizon company to hand over telephone data. Civil liberties groups said the details of the report were "stunning". Shown above is the chart for the Lunar Eclipse of  25 May at Washington . The eclipse moon is placed in the tenth house – the house that rules the Government. H.S. Green notes that this makes the Government unpopular. In addition the eclipse  Sun [4ge08] is conjunct the asteroid Kron [5ge30] square Neptune [5pi20] and makes a minor hard aspect [22d30] to the asteroid Atlantis [25ge32]. In praise of Bradley Manning

“Don’t ask yourself what the world needs; ask yourself what makes you come alive. And then go and do that. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.” ~Howard Thurman Bradley Edward Manning (born December 17, 1987) is a United States Army soldier who was arrested in May 2010 in Iraq on suspicion of having passed classified material to the website WikiLeaks. He was ultimately charged with 22 offenses, including communicating national defense information to an unauthorized source and aiding the enemy. He was arrested after Adrian Lamo, a computer hacker, told the FBI that Manning had confided during online chats (first chat May 21, 2010 at 1:41 pm) that he had downloaded material from these databases and passed it to WikiLeaks. Manning’s  trial began on June 3, 2013. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bradley_Manning A chart drawn for 21 May 2010; 1:41 pm, Washington DC has the Sun at 0ge21 and the meridian axis  at 9ge-9sa. Astro-meteorology of the European floods

Thousands of people have fled their homes across central Europe as deadly flood waters continue to rise. The Czech capital, Prague , is on high alert amid fears that floodwater could swamp its historic centre. Underground stations have been closed and schools shut as Prague officials wait and see whether the Vltava River will flood its banks. The BBC's Rob Cameron in Prague says the city is hoping that the defences it installed after devastating floods in 2002 will work. In August 2002 a flood caused by over a week of continuous heavy rains ravaged Europe, killing dozens, dispossessing thousands, and causing damage of billions of euros in the Czech Republic, Austria, Germany, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, Romania and Croatia. The flood was of a magnitude expected to occur roughly once a century. Meteorological astrology or astrometeorology is the practice of applying the astrological/astronomical placements of the Sun, Moon, and planets to forecast the weather.  An ex...

Astro-meteorology of the Oklahoma tornado

The Great Storm Bird and the Sun God At least 51 people have been killed after a huge tornado tore through Oklahoma City suburbs, with the death toll likely to rise. Worst hit was Moore , south of the city, where neighbourhoods were flattened and schools were destroyed by winds of up to 200mph (321km/h). About 120 people, including 70 children, are being treated in hospitals for their injuries. Meteorological astrology or astrometeorology (from Greek ἄστρον, astron, "constellation, star"; μετέωρος, metéōros, "high in the sky"; and -λογία, -logia) is the practice of applying the astrological/astronomical placements of the Sun, Moon, and planets to forecast the weather.[1] The rules of astro-meteorology are summed up by Kim Farnell. A Basic Guide to Astro-meteorology Cast a chart for the Sun's ingress into each of the four cardinal signs, i.e. 00 deg of Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn. The charts are interpreted using t...

Perceiving patterns of meaning

Cassiopeia - the Ethiopian Queen New Era of Fisheries Policy Needed to Secure Nutrition for Millions May 17, 2013 — A new study published in PNAS argues that for fisheries policies to be effective they must take in to account not just fish stock conservation and environmental issues, but also research data on the patterns and dynamics of fish trade, markets and user consumption. Securing the critical contribution of wild fish stocks to food and nutrition security in the developing world depends on better governance and management of the fisheries sector. Fish is a key source of animal protein, fatty acids, vitamins, and micronutrients like iron and zinc that contribute to a balanced diet, and is a particularly important food source in many developing countries.. http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2013/05/130517102632.htm May 14, 2013  - Ms. Jolie wrote on the Op-Ed page of The New York Times that she had tested positive for a genetic mutat...

Cassiopeia eclipse and the Cannes jewel heist

More than $1 million worth of jewels by Chopard were stolen from a Cannes hotel room Thursday after the safe was removed and taken, according to Nice police. The jewels were meant to worn by celebrities in town for the annual Cannes Film Festival, which is known to attract thieves, but Deadline reports the Chopard heist is one of the biggest in recent history. Regular readers will by now be aware of the importance of angles (i.e. Ascendant, Descendant, Midheaven (MC) and Nadir (IC) in mundane astrology. A chart for an eclipse becomes extremely significant for a place if the angles are strongly aspected.  Shown here is the chart of the May 10 solar eclipse at Cannes . Notice that the eclipse Sun-Moon along with Mercury, Mars and Saturn make a  Grand Cross with horizon axis so that judging by the rules of mundane astrology it is definitely important for the place. But what is it saying? First, as we have mentioned in a previous post, the eclipse...

Eclipse brings new era in art market

Constellation Pictor – the Painter’s Easel A contemporary art sale at Christie's in New York has made $495m (£325m), the highest total in auction history. The sale included works by Jackson Pollock, Roy Lichtenstein and Jean-Michel Basquiat. The sale established 16 new world auction records, with nine works selling for more than $10m (£6.6m) and 23 for more than $5m (£3.2m). Christie's said the records reflected "a new era in the art market". The May 9 eclipse [19ta31] is conjunct the Cupido/Zeus midpoint [18ta33]. Readers unfamiliar with TNPs may refer to Arlene Kramer’s definitions [1] . Cupido is about art and Zeus is compulsion   amongst other things so that this eclipse is likely to make people feel a compulsion about art. Cupido is opposite Jupiter and the stars of Pictor, the Painter’s easel. [2] Neptune is square Venus and  forms a biseptile to Jupiter. With Neptune-Venus we become sensitive and  extremely responsive to mus...

Astrology of the French recession

France has entered its second recession in four years after the economy shrank by 0.2% in the first quarter of the year, official figures show. Its economy shrank by the same amount in the last quarter of 2012. A recession is defined as two consecutive quarters of negative growth. France has record unemployment and low business and consumer confidence. BBC The  lay public is usually unaware that since ancient times a branch of astrology devoted to the fate of nations was used by kings and rulers to understand what the stars foretold for their nations .  In the course of history, the individual became the focus of attention in the western world and this development has led to the general decline of mundane astrology; its influence on the development of society has almost completely disappeared [1]. One of the accepted mundane horoscopes for France is that of the formation of the First Republic [2]. From the tables [3] below and their standard interpretations...
