PLOS Medicine on Tuesday published a study, in which researchers found that for every 1,000 children who received the vaccine, 800 cases of illness could be prevented. The children also retained protection 18 months after being injected. A burst water main on Los Angeles ' iconic Sunset Boulevard has caused flooding at the University of California , Los Angeles . The main burst on Tuesday (July 29) afternoon, sending a jet of water high into the air and opening a hole, 10 feet wide, in the street. A Conservative MP has spoken of his belief in astrology and his desire to incorporate it into medicine. David Tredinnick said he had spent 20 years studying astrology and healthcare and was convinced it could work. Three enormous cooling towers at the disused Didcot A Power Station in Oxfordshire have been demolished. OUAGADOUGO, Burkina Faso (AP) — An Air Algerie jetliner carrying 116 people crashed Thursday in a rainstorm over restive Mali, and its wreckage was found near the border of neighboring Burkina Faso — the third major international aviation disaster in a week. It was found about 50 kilometers (31 miles) from the border of Burkina Faso near the village of Boulikessi in Mali , a Burkina Faso presidential aide said. He told The Associated Press that rescuers went to the area after they had heard from a resident that he saw the plane go down 80 kilometers (50 miles) southwest of Malian town of Gossi . At least 14 children were killed along with their driver when a school bus was hit by a train in the Indian state of Telangana, police say. The passenger train rammed into the school bus, dragging it several hundred metres down the track, reports said. No one on the train was hurt. The Great Storm Bird and the Sun God A TransAsia plane has crashed in the Penghu Islands off the coast of Taiwan , killing 51 of its 58 passengers and crew in a failed emergency landing, Taiwanese authorities have said.
