Indonesia's search and rescue agency said Monday that a Lion Air passenger flight lost contact 13 minutes after takeoff. The jet was a Boeing 737 MAX 8, Reuters reported. Indonesia disaster agency said Monday the plane had 188 passengers and crew on board. There are multiple casualties at a synagogue in the US city of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, after a gunman opened fire during a service on Saturday. Three police officers are among those wounded. Police have not yet said how many people were killed. The man, who was injured in an exchange of gunfire with police, has now surrendered and is in custody. His name has not yet been released. Officers are still searching the Tree of Life synagogue. Local residents are still being asked to stay at home. The synagogue serves the Squirrel Hill neighbourhood, which has one of the largest Jewish populations in Pennsylvania.
